Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I have my heat pump professionally cleaned?

For optimal performance, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality, we recommend a professional deep clean every 12 months. If you have pets, allergies, or asthma sufferers in your home, or if your heat pump is used heavily, you might consider cleaning it more regularly.

Does my heat pump really have mould in it?

Yes, it’s very likely. Heat pumps create an ideal environment for mould growth: constant moisture from condensation, a steady supply of dust and organic particles, and dark internal spaces. Just like a Petri dish, these conditions allow mould and bacteria to grow and spread inside the unit unless it’s regularly cleaned.

Where do the dust mites come from ?

Dust mites thrive in household dust, which is made up of tiny particles like dead skin cells, carpet fibres, pet dander, and fabric debris from furniture and bedding. Just one ounce of dust can contain up to 42,000 dust mites. These mites produce waste particles that are a common cause of allergies, asthma, and respiratory irritation.

What causes that smell ?

A musty or mouldy smell in your home is often a sign of hidden mould growth. Mould thrives in warm, damp, and dark environments—like the inside of a heat pump. Once it starts growing, it releases spores and gases that create that unpleasant odour, often long before you can see visible signs.
